Since 1979, the Hispanic Police Officers Association (HPOA) has stood as a pillar of progress and compassion within the Miami-Dade law enforcement community. What began as a vision for greater diversity, representation, and opportunity within the police force has grown into a movement that uplifts both officers and the communities they serve.
The HPOA and its charitable arm, the HPOA Foundation, a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit since 2008, are committed to giving back in meaningful ways. We support officers recovering from serious illness or injury and stand beside the families of fallen heroes who gave everything in the line of duty. But our impact reaches well beyond law enforcement.
INVESTING IN OUR COMMUNITY
At the heart of the HPOA’s mission is a simple belief:
When we lift each other up, we all rise. Each year, we proudly:
- Award scholarships to deserving local students
- Celebrate our Florida Prepaid College Raffle winners
- Host events that unite and uplift, including:
- The Valentine’s Day Gala, honoring our Officer of the Year
- The HPOA Family Picnic, bringing officers and families together
The HPOA Back the Blue, a family-friendly event to show support for law enforcement. All donations support the HPOA Foundation
- The Thanksgiving Turkey Drive, feeding local families
- The Christmas Toy Drive, making the holidays brighter for children in need
We also extend our support to numerous charitable causes that align with our values, helping ensure that the most vulnerable among us are not forgotten.
